OCFS is Oracle's Cluster File System (CFS) for Linux. It is a POSIX compliant, extent based, shared storage file system.

OCFS can be used for shared Oracle home installations making management of Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) installations easier.

OCFS2 uses a distributed lock manager which resembles the OpenVMS DLM, but is much simpler.

License[edit]

Oracle released OCFS under the GNU General Public License.

OCFS2 (version 2) was integrated into the Linux version 2.6.16 kernel. It was initially marked as "experimental" code. This restriction was removed in Linux version 2.6.19.
